Several people have mentioned how extensive the fragrance section is at Fortnum and Mason. On Saturday I finally had the chance to visit, and they do stock a lot of niche lines. that are hard to come by elsewhere. It almost rivals the Liberty perfume room if you ask me.
Niche brands in Fortnum and Mason include Grossmith, Annick Goutal and Clive Christian. A large section of the third floor displays are room fragrances from lots of different companies. Definitely well worth a visit.
It's hard to find any information on the Fortnum's website about their perfume section. There's an old link to a Micallef event here, where you can see this cute photo that only hints at the treats there:
Whilst in Mayfair, I quickly popped into Ormonde Jayne, where they were kind enough to give me a sample of Tiare. I'm toying with the idea of buying a full bottle. I'll see how I feel about it after I've finished this sample.

Thanks to a heads up from you, Jessica, I've got a Discovery Set from Ormonde Jayne on the way. Tiare is one of the scents I'm looking forward to the most, actually. I just have a feeling about it. Based on my response to Ormonde Woman, it's clear I'm a rabid fan in the making. Thanks again for introducing me to this lovely line.

I was at Ormonde Jayne yesterday and experienced the perfume portrait service. Sadly I had a real aversion to the hesperidic & white flower notes used and unsurprisingly haven't been able to enjoy my sample of Tiare, although from the rapturous reviews I think it's probably heavenly for the right person.

They have a good selection of Caron, including the urns, if I recall correctly. I really should pop in there the next time I'm in London!
Oh, I haven't been to Fortnum's for ages. This looks lovely so I think I'm going to have to spend some time/money there when I'm next in the area.
I think it's a great department- it's so lovely and quiet and still in the craziness of Piccadily- and there is carpet to sink your shoes into. I like the selection, it's eclectic- they have a great selection of the real good old Guerlains and the Caron display is divine!
Plus you can go downstairs and look at the food afterwards...
Tiare is great isn't it- and transports you away from the grey and cold!
