West Side by Bond No. 9

Somebody has changed my nose. I don't know who did it or why. But I don't want my old nose back. It's like I've found a whole new world.

Last night I put on some Bond No. 9 West Side as I was going to bed. And it was amazing. Lovely, cosy and warming. The perfect fragrance to wear at the end of a long cold winter. But, how did it happen that I suddenly, and quite genuinely love amber fragrances?

According to Basenotes, West Side is made up of rose, ylang-ylang, peony, sandalwood, amber, vanilla and musk.  Its a great fragrance, and one I thoroughly recommend if you need something warming and comforting to get you through the tail end of winter.

West Side is one of the fragrances that I purchased a while back from the Perfumed Court in their MUA 2007 Top 25 sampler pack. This sample pack has been one of the best perfume purchases I've made.  I can't recommend it highly enough.

If you like the idea of peony in a warming winter fragrances you could try Chinatown also by Bond No. 9's, which is similarly listed in the MUA 2007 top 25.

Westside is one of Bond No. 9's scents I haven't tried. Due to the nice man at the fragrance counter at Sak's I've tried a lot of the Bonds. He's sent their nice sized viles several times. Chinatown will go down as one of my favorites. I'm not definite as to what amber smells like and I'm very curious. Will certainly be trying Westside.

Hi Princess Glee,

Very envious that you are able to try lots of the Bond No. 9 fragrances. I've only tried Chinatown and West Side and as I really like both of them I'm eager to try more from the range.

May I suggest trying Park Avenue because of it's similarity as an airy floral like La Chasse aux Papillon.

Another suggestion, I can't remember what Nuit de Noho smells like but I do remember really liking it and my generous vile is empty.

Lastly, try So New York. The nice man at Sak's tells me it's very popular.

Aliens stole my nose a while ago and taught it to like tuberose. It was very strange. I hope that I get the amber upgrade that you got, too.

Hi Chicken Freak,

So funny how things can change overnight. Genuinely I never thought I would come round to amber. But, hey it's happened. Never say never.

I love amber-- love, love, love it, but since "Fendi" was pithed and destroyed some years back, I haven't found a new amber I like anywhere near as well.

I've decided I'm going to end my boycott of all things House of B#9, but getting to smell it still means conquering a new department store (Saks) and I haven't quite worked up the steam yet. but this one, I will try. I lived on the West Side for a while, and I would love to be reminded of those happy days.
